hi,

I’d like to know why, when forming an indirect question from the following direct question, the word you goes before can in the indirect question.

the direct question is: where can you get a good meal?

the indirect question is: do you know where you can get a good meal?

I don't know the answer. I think it is also possible to use the same word order in the direct question, so

Do you know where can you get a good meal?

could also be used, but I think Do you know where you can get a good meal? is probably easier to say.

Does anyone else have any ideas?
