Some people say that zoos have no useful purpose. Others believe that zoos are beneficial in many ways. Discuss and give your opinion.

It is true that a diversity of animals around the world have been captured and kept in zoos for centuries. Opinions are divided on whether zoos could bring benefits to the society and environment or not. I, however, hold a strong belief that there are many advantages to it.

There are several compelling reasons why zoos are believed to be pointless. One of them is that many think animals may decrease their ability to breed their offspring if they are not allowed to live in their natural habitats, which results in many endangered animals nowadays. Moreover, there is a common belief that the act of caging animals in zoos is an infringement of animal rights seeing that they may be mistreated, bullied and exploited as they are forced to perform in order to attract tourists. Another consequence of being caged in the zoos is that those animals may lose their natural instincts during the course of being captive and fed on a daily basis; therefore, they may be incapable of facing with difficulties after returning to the wild in the future.

Irrespective of the aforementioned drawbacks, zoos also have many positive effects on the environment and society. In terms of the environment, animals are provided suitable condition to live such as food, water and space since there is an increase in the number of species being endangered after undergoing deforestation, illegal hunting and climate change; hence, the biodiversity has been endured. Society-wise, children and biology students are provided a resourceful learning environment seeing that they are allowed to have physical contacts with those animals, which could increase the levels of love for nature. As a result, it is possible to acquire knowledge about fauna living in the furthest habitats such as penguin in a direct way.

To sum up, although the disadvantages of keeping animals in zoos make it seemed like a bad idea, I firmly believe that the benefits of zoos outweigh its drawbacks which can be trivial if there are more zoos creating a better living space for animals.

(1) I am not sure what you mean here. Maybe you can explain further and I try to think of a more suitable phrase?

Good structure and range of grammatical structures. Well answered with some good points on both sides.
