When a sentence begins with the phrase "not until", the subject and auxiliary verb in the first clause, immediately after not until, are not inverted. However, in the second clause, the subject and auxiliary verb are inverted.

i.e. Not until we reached the lake, did we realize how beautiful it was

The grammatical structure of the sentence is the following:

Not until (1st clause: subject + auxiliary verb) (2nd clause: auxiliary verb + subject)

Several grammar books define it as an idiom as it is used to emphasize that something does not happen before a certain point in time or before something else has happened.

Hello, Neal. That is a great question but a bit too broad for a simple answer from the tutors. What is the subject of your writing? Who are your audience (readers). If you are writing a mystery story, a tried and true start is, "It was a dark and stormy night...." It is a bit trite and used mostly now for comic effect, but it has correct grammar and establishes a setting/mood.
If, on another hand, you are trying to be persuasive or to convey important information, that would be wholly inappropriate in most settings. If you would like to pursue the matter further with me or another tutor, click on the Contact Tutor button; we would be glad to help. Best wishes, Paul L.

Hi Prince,

'She barely goes out to avoid human interaction.' is a perfect sentence. You do not need an article before 'human interaction.' In general, everyday use, 'interaction' is used as an uncountable noun. However, you may find contexts in which it is used as a countable noun, especially when referring to different **types **of interactions.
