I had a student ask today for some different ways to say that they are busy.

Here are some things I mentioned:

flat out - working or going at the maximum speed

snowed under - having too much to do

have my plate full - to have a full schedule

swamped - overwhelmed, extremely busy

up to my ears - excessive or overwhelmed. For example: I am up to my ears right now in paperwork.

Do you know of any other words or phrases? Can you use any of these phrases in your own sentence?
