English Language Schools in New Zealand |

This New Zealand section of the Good School Guide has details of over 50 English language schools and university language centers all over New Zealand.


Inclusion in the Guide is by recommendation, and we generally list only those schools which are registered by the Quality Assurance unit of NZQA, the New Zealand Government's Qualifications Authority.
Our listings include both state tertiary institutions (universities or state colleges) and private schools.
All our selected private schools are members of one or both of the national professional associations:

There are four ways to search for a school in the Guide: |
- Keyword Search: use the search box in the left side panel to enter one or more keywords: all schools in the New Zealand section will be searched.
- Browse by Region: Click one of the New Zealand regions on the map to browse an A-Z list of all schools in that region:
- List all schools: browse the full A-Z list of over 50 schools in New Zealand, with 30 schools listed on each page.
- Advanced Search: use this detailed search page to look for particular locations, courses, examinations, facilities or other features.

AUT International House (Auckland, North Island): Part of Auckland University of Technology, the school offers high quality general, examination and business English courses at its central location in downtown Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. Member of the worldwide IH network of schools. |

Capital Language Academy (Wellington, North Island): A well established school in the centre of Wellington, New Zealand's capital city. General and examination courses; junior summer courses; CELTA teacher training courses. |

Christchurch College of English (Christchurch, South Island): Based on a college campus in the "garden city" of Christchurch, gateway to the beautiful mountains and plains of the South Island. General English; High School programme; preparation for Cambridge, TOEFL and IELTS. |

Dominion English School (Auckland, North Island): Dominion offers a friendly "at home" atmosphere, and top exam results in Cambridge, IELTS, Pitman, TOEFL and TOEIC. Maximum 10 students per class. Last year, 1365 students from 33 countries attended Dominion: 50% Asian, 45% European. Dominion also has a school in Christchurch |

GEOS Auckland Language Centre - ALC (Auckland, North Island): Established in 1984, ALC occupies four floors of a modern office building in the centre of Auckland. Good facilities and a range of general, business, examination courses. Also CELTA teacher training. |

International Language Academy (Christchurch, South Island): Located in two attractive buildings in central Christchurch, ILA offers a wide range of courses and preparation for Pitman, Cambridge, TOEFL and IELTS. ILA is part of the UK based Aspect group, and has a sister ILA school in the elegant Newmarket area of Auckland |

Languages International (Auckland, North Island): The school occupies four large historic houses surrounded by gardens and parks near the University of Auckland, and offers a full range of general, business and examination courses: Cambridge PET, FCE, CAE and CPE, IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC. Also Cambridge CELTA and DELTA teacher training courses. |

NZ English Language School (Upper Hutt, North Island): The school is located on the campus of the Central Institute of Technology in Upper Hutt, 30 minutes' drive from Wellington, New Zealand's capital city. Good choice of courses and excellent campus facilities for sport, leisure and accommodation. |

University of Otago Language Centre (Dunedin, South Island): The beautiful harbour city of Dunedin is New Zealand's centre of learning, and the Otago Language Centre is affiliated to the city's three important tertiary institutions. The centre, located on the joint university campus, offers a choice of high quality courses, together with the excellent campus facilities for academic, cultural and social activities. |

University of Waikato Language Institute (Auckland, North Island): Located in a modern building right in the downtown of Auckland, the university's Language Institute offers a wide range of programmes, from English for beginners to university preparation and group programmes.
